Intro
Axfood, Sweden’s largest food retailer, partnered with Urban Partners to redefine its logistics through its support company, Dagab. To meet the rising demand for flexible and efficient deliveries, Dagab set out to create one of the most advanced logistics facilities in the Nordics.
Strategically located in Bålsta, within the Stockholm Nord Logistics area, the facility sits at the heart of Sweden’s largest consumer market. This prime position strengthens Axfood’s national distribution network and enables low-emission last-mile deliveries.
In the increasingly complex supply chains of modern city life, the demand for food security and rapid delivery is a critical urban challenge. DSL Bålsta is Urban Partners’ answer to this need: The development of critical infrastructure that enables the seamless distribution of goods to over 3.5 million people within one hour of Stockholm. By consolidating six separate distribution centres into a single, state-of-the-art hub, the project optimized the local logistics ecosystem – reducing urban traffic congestion while significantly enhancing the reliability of the region’s food supply. With BREEAM-SE certification and on-site energy production of roughly 7,880 MWh per year, this development exemplifies how to adapt to a growing city’s infrastructure needs while strengthening the resilience of the local energy grid and securing the regional supply chain.
