Sustainability
We view sustainability as a fundamental lever for value creation: we pioneer, innovate, and scale efficient and commercially viable solutions across our portfolio to generate maximum value for the benefit of all.

We’re committed to deep emissions reductions, recognising that implementing sustainability actions in urban development is key to the future of development in our cities.

We’re committed to deep emissions reductions, recognising that implementing sustainability actions in urban development is key to the future of development in our cities.

We believe that a robust and transparent framework for GHG emissions disclosure and reduction is an essential part of a well-functioning market for low carbon real estate. This is why we have set science-based targets, covering 93% of Urban Partners’ total footprint (own operations and investments in real estate with discretionary mandates). Our targets were validated in April 2025.
Key Targets
- 70%
Urban Partners commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 70% by 2030 from a 2022 base year.
- 80%
Reduction in operational GHG emissions intensity by 2030 from a 2022 base year.
- 50%
Reduction in embodied GHG emissions intensity by 2030 from a 2022 base year.
- 0
No new fossil fuel equipment that are owned or financially controlled by the company in its real estate portfolio.

Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, and security hinge on reducing energy consumption and having access to cheap, reliable and clean energy sources. Real estate is uniquely positioned to support this critical agenda due to its potential for energy efficiency, flexibility and decentralised energy production – proven solutions which are being deployed at scale.
Key Results
- 42%
Reduction in operational emissions from 2022 to 2024 (kg co2/m2/yr).

Construction accounts for approximately 15% of all global GHG emissions, making it a critical focus area. Our commitment includes reducing operational emissions intensity, which we’ve done by 42%
Green and Thriving
Neihbourhoods
Cities and neighbourhoods are the cornerstones of society, profoundly shaping our lives and collective progress. We believe that investing in thriving places that meet the needs of people – vibrant, inclusive communities where individuals connect, contribute, and flourish – creates better cities and is a key driver of strong returns and long-term value creation.
We have partnered with C40 to pioneer the Green and Thriving Neighbourhood program with the aim of accelerating the adaptation of the 15-minute city concept and delivering evidence to support the new urban models.
We are committed to helping communities thrive by supporting local initiatives across many of the locations we operate in, accentuating our hyper-local approach.

In the face of Europe’s energy challenges, real estate is a beacon of opportunity. Energy efficiency and decentralised production can transform buildings from being part of the problem to part of the solution.
Frameworks & Commitments
Our commitment to sustainability is demonstrated through our alignment with leading international standards and frameworks.
We require all new developments to be certified under strict sustainability practices, as outlined by such certifications as DGNB Gold, LEED Gold, BREEAM Very Good, Nordic Swan Ecolabel, or Miljöbyggnad Silver. In 2024, all of our developments with finalised construction met these requirements.
We invest in renewable energy through on-site generation, off-site renewable electricity procurement, low-GHG district heating and cooling, and targeted investments in companies advancing the transition. As of 2024, our real estate strategy (Nrep) has installed or is installing 54 MW of solar capacity across the portfolio since 2020.
We advance energy efficiency across our portfolio by using high-efficiency building systems, energy storage and recovery solutions, electrified heating and cooling, and intelligent energy management. In 2024, Nrep adopted portfolio energy intensity targets aligned with the Paris 1.5°C pathway.
We contribute to climate action goals by setting 1.5°C-aligned SBTi targets, committing to net-zero emissions, and investing in companies driving that transition. We assess and mitigate physical and transition climate risks across our portfolio.
